Make learning fun and get the most out of
Google Classroom!
Today’s students are 21st century learners. This means teachers have to be craftier and more creative than ever before. Fortunately, technology is on our side and becoming increasingly easy to use.
Here’s an idea to get your students collaborating and sharing knowledge, experiences, and perspectives, which are also 21st century learning attributes.
Google Slides is a perfect place for students to work together real time. You can share any slide deck on Google Classroom and all students in your class can access and edit it. This opens up a world of possibilities! Students can each claim a slide within the deck and have their own personal work space, but can also click into other students’ slides and leave feedback, view comments, learn from each other, and basically anything you can think of. The best part: you can watch students work and leave feedback REAL TIME! Realistically, this type of interaction is MORE effective and efficient than walking around the classroom. You can have access to each of your students’ work at the touch of a button. It’s also helpful that they know you are watching!
Here is an example of how I use Google Slides on Google Classroom to allow my students to have a fun group discussion about whatever story, article, or movie we are working on. My students absolutely love this activity! In fact, they beg to do this for everything we read and watch.
